Brush clearance season is here, and with wildfire danger continuing to impact our region, it's critical that everyone does their part to help protect their homes and neighborhoods. Creating defensible space by removing dead vegetation and excess brush can help slow the spread of wildfire, reduce fire intensity near homes, and provide firefighters with safer access during emergencies.

The Culver City Fire Department has mailed brush clearance notices to property owners residing in high fire hazard severity zones within Culver City. To assist residents with the disposal of brush and vegetation, green waste dumpsters will be available through July 20, 2026, at the following locations:

  • Corner of Wright Terrance and Wrightcrest Drive in Blair Hills
  • Lot where Flaxton Street becomes Youngworth Road in Culver Crest

Each dumpster will be clearly marked with a Culver City Fire Department banner indicating that the containers are for GREEN WASTE ONLY.

For questions, please contact the Community Risk Reduction Division at (310) 253-5925. Additional information about brush clearance and defensible space can be found on Cal Fire's Ready for Wildfire website.

While preparing your property, take a moment to prepare yourself as well. Have you signed up for emergency alerts? Residents are encouraged to sign up for CulverAlerts notifications and familiarize themselves with their evacuation zone through Genasys Protect's Know Your Zone program. Taking these simple steps now can help you stay informed and ready during an emergency.
